Future Lifesavers Start Here
The Wye River Nippers Program is a fun, safe, and active way for kids aged 6–13 (as of 1 October 2024) to learn about the
beach, develop surf skills, and build confidence in and around the water.
Through age-appropriate activities, Nippers gain surf awareness, learn to spot hazards like rips and waves, and are introduced
to resuscitation and basic first aid.
Every Nipper must be a club member, with at least one parent also joining. We encourage family participation — from social
activities to completing a Bronze Medallion and helping with water safety.

Our Starfish Nippers program is tailored for young people with disabilities or learning needs, ensuring everyone can get involved
in surf lifesaving. Open to children aged 6+.
In their final year, U14 Nippers complete the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) — the first step towards becoming a patrolling
lifesaver. SRC candidates must also submit a preliminary swim form. Download information kit here.
Our Nippers program thrives thanks to the energy and passion of parents and volunteer clubbies. These volunteers give their time because they love lifesaving, being outdoors, and helping kids stay active and
safe.
There are plenty of ways to get involved — from being an age manager to lending a hand at the BBQ or helping with merchandise. Every role makes a difference.
